question about "black cherry sunburst" LX finish

Joined: April 2004 Posts: 7 Location: nyc | ive seen legend LX's in the clear maroon finish and an elite LX in guitar centers exclusive "honeyburst" finish-looked like new england burst pics...so my question is does the black cherry finish on the elite lx show the grain of the guitar? i cant tell from any pics ive seen. seems like it would.... thanks, john | ||

Joined: February 2003 Posts: 2178 Location: the BIG Metropolis of TR | jdemic, I can't speak for the LX but I have a Standard Elite (6868) in Black Cherry Burst and from a distance it appears to be a solid color but up close and in the light you can see the grain thru the cherry color (has almost a pearlescent effect as the light reflects the grain) | ||

Joined: March 2002 Posts: 15666 Location: SoCal | Playing an Elite LX yesterday, I found that I liked the New England much more than I thought I would. The pic in the catalong doesn't do it justice. Now having said that, when I buy an LX DEEP BOWL (god but I'm being a persistant prick about this -- I gotta get a life), it will be with a natural top treated with ager toner. | ||

Played one last week and right next to it was the 30th aniversery with a natural bear claw. That is drop dead gorgeous. Steve | ||

Joined: April 2003 Posts: 2503 Location: Fayetteville, NC | Keep in mind you can also ask for a special Finish Job if you want. It may cost you a little extra ,.. but they do a great job. My 1858 Elite 12 String was done with a 8T Transparent Blue Finish. I love it! | ||
