I received my G7 Capo from Paul on Friday and it's everything he said it was! I really like it! The ONLY drawback is that the neck of my Balladeer 12 is fairly wide and I cannot use it above the 5th fret (not quite long enough- 1/8" more would be better) :( and thus I will continue to use my Shubb on the 12-string, but on my 6-strings, its fabulous!

One funny thing: the package seemed to be very slow in delivery and when It arrived on Friday, I noticed that Homeland Security had opened it up, inspected the contents and then re-sealed the package with bright green Homeland Security tape!

....wonder what kind of terrorist device they thought it was

Anyway, Thanks again Paul! Even if you are now on the Homeland Security "List"

Tim, glad it got there safely. I know a couple of other OFC members received theirs about the same time. I buy from a couple of suppliers in the USA & sometimes delivery is a couple of days, sometimes a couple of weeks, using regular airmail.

I've found I can use the G7 capo on my GC12 up to the 8th fret & a little higher on my Deacon 12.

By the way, was there a "Wedgie" in the package, or did Homeland Security manage to lose it?

Paul,

I forgot to thank you for the Wedgie! (Let's let the other OFC'ers think about that!)

I'll measure the Balladeer neck and post it tomorrow.

Great capo even so!

Thanks again!

The wedgies are really good. My wife got them for christmas. It makes for an easy change for going from flat picking, then tucking the pick away, then strumming with the fingertips.

Tim,
Did it occur to you that the package was suspect due to it's destination rather than it's point of origin?

Is Cousin Steve getting the same treatment?

Having a little bit of knowledge with Homeland Security, big booms come in small packages, so they gotta check out everything.

Just because you're paranoid, it doesn't mean somebody isn't actually following you.

...so, homeland security is randomly inspecting regular airmail without a warrant?..i wonder if they are using xray, or metal detectors, or whatever?...and if they happen to destroy/ruin something in the process?...who will be responsible for it?

It more than likely did go through a metal detector/x-ray.

Y'gotta figure that a small air-mail package containing a metallic device (especially coming internationally) is gonna get inspected.

The package was actually sliced open and then re-taped with Homeland Security Green tape...

All packages are inspected by Homeland Security -- regardless of the shipper.

I get several packages a week from the US and those that are not chargeable are rarely tampered with by customs. We're either less paranoid or more complacent. On a similar note, apparently the Queen receives at least 3 parcels a week filled with human waste. I'd really like to know who sends the other 2.

Got two of them today...excellent. Another good recommendation/product from one of our own.

For me, true test is on a 12-string...worked great on the 1658 CL slothead.

Paul, thanks...

How would you say the Homeland Security Green Tape would hold up against some Redneck Survival Kit Gray Duct Tape?

Is the HSGT made in USA or did it come from Walmart as well?

It was probably one of our members who works for homeland security and recognized the sender's address and reciever's address and wanted to see what that sucker looked like.

It appears someone here besides me watches Red Green, I watch it because it reminds me of Conneaut Ohio when I was growing up. All my friends on the farm would have fit in at Possum Lodge.

Hey Tony, you said:

What's the neck width on your slothead at the 7th and 9th frets?

The neck of my Balladeer is 2 1/8" at the 9th fret and the G7 Capo is just about 1/16" too short to catch both of the high "E" strings. Is the Balladeer 12-string really that much wider than the others?

I do play several songs capoed at the 7th and 9th frets... kindof a Mandolin on Steroids sound!

The capo is great on all my 6-strings. :D

Also, there's omnivore, carnivore and echelon scanning electronic communications. Just to add to the paranoia ...
