It isn't going to be that good a deal, with new ones available for under $1000. I dunno....Steve is right if the bidding gets much higher. I always wonder what the story is behind a deal like this. Brad

I wouldn't pay more than $700 for the LX on E-Bay when for a few bucks more I can get a "virgin" guitar so to speak. Al P. just sent me my special order "Blue" Balladeer LX and it is a cool looking and great sounding guitar which I like better than my Standard Balladeer. LX's are great guitars which "could(?)" replace some of the lower priced American models. For example a Std. Balladeer LX after the discounts is only $100 more than a Std. Balladeer ($799 vs. $699 for current pricing). Play On! John L. Std. Balladeer Std. Balladeer LX Legend LX Celebrity C026 Tornado Takamine 12 String Martin D16GT Febder P-Bass

The tuners appear to my bloodshot eyes to be gold. Balladeers and Standard Elites have silver tuners, Legends and the higher series Elites have gold. The story behind it might be as simple as he got it thinking he would like it, didn't, and decided to get his money back out of it as best he could. Joined: June 2004 Posts: 365 Location: NC | I just purchased a backordered Elite LX from a web store for $1049. I looked on E-Bay but at that rate one would be best to buy new. The competitive spirit seems to drive up prices there. I am new to this site and look forward to the post here. The LX will be my first Ovation. I have a Walden acoustic D550T now that I began on and looked forward to the day I could get a acoustic/electric. I tried the Elite out at a local dealer who was rather high on it but it was everything I had thought it would be. Just one thing to you pro's...........how does the Ovation hold up as far as craftsmanship? I hope pretty good for the $ I spent. I just loved the look of this guitar from first sight and after picking a song on it just had to have one.

When I toured the factory, I was amazed of the amount of actual hand work done, during the construction by their staff of skilled New England craftsman. My most recent purchase, the LX Legend,I'm pleased to say excells in sound, playability, looks and electronics. You may want to check into the pictures posted of the factory tour to view the amount of actual hand crafed work that goes into each Ovation. You can also view the construction of the LX's on their web site. Tommy

It was a sight unseen leap of faith but with a happy ending. It's also reassuring knowing that if something buckles, pops or twangs I have the warranty to deal with. I removed the gold tuner pegs and replaced them with Pearloid. No fingerprints and they look sweet. Fill the anticipation time by getting Shureloc fittings for your straps, String Swings for your wall, Dunlop 45 polish and some well washed cotton diapers. And buy your significant other some diamonds or a day-spa and excuse yourself for the 2 weeks you'll be ignoring everyone!
