One of my co-workers noticed a possible problem with the bridge of my Ovation Celebrity nylon string. I intend to call Customer Support at the “Mother Ship” to ask about it.

That raised a question. If I need to have someone (a Luthier) take a look at my guitars, how do I go about finding a good one?

I also think I may have the necks checked on both of my O’s, just for safety sake.

I know that some of you have worked with, or perhaps are, Luthiers. Where do I go, or how do I find, a good local Luthier?

Thanks!

Paul V.

Good Luck! The problem I have here in Madison is finding one that doesn't hate Ovations. I did find a guy not far away that was an "Authorized Ovation Repair Shop" and I think I found his sname and number on the Ovation site.

I may be "splitting hairs", but I regard luthiers as design and construction professionals, and you may be seeking the services of a technician or repair specialist. Don't want to sound snobbish or elitist, but artists and craftsmen are not always the same thing.

Too true See2.

I would get a list of Ovation Dealers in your local and call each and ask who does their work. If you get repetitive hits for the same one they can then be contacted for references.

BTW - Just pulled a lovely CL12 out of the box!
Wheeeeeeee-doggy as Jed used to say!

Paul V., if you're willing to drive 90 miles north, in Tempe, AZ is a great tech/repair who is intimately familiar with Ovations. Richard Beck of Beck's Guitar Specialty Services has taken care of Glen Campbell's guitars for years. You won't find anyone better.

Two ways.

1. Go to the Ovation website and look up warranty repair. They have a list by state.

2. Go outside and play a banjo, then judge from which direction the rocks are coming and follow them to the source.

I always heard that a luthier was an unemployed college graduate who likes guitars......

Thanks folks!

seesquare, noted and appreciated. A technician, or repair specialist is what I'm looking for (I've learned yet once again!).

MWoody and dmkozak, good info, you too eMan. (Eman, I think Ill pass on the play the banjo part.... :) )
