Can anyone help me? I know it was a Legend and a deep bowl. It had a brown case (if that says anything). I bought it in 72, 73, 74 somewhere in there ... Oh, this is my son Jared -- who is now 23! MY how time flies! ![]()

I loved that guitar, but it feel one night at choir practice and split the top. If just fell straight down as the strap came off the strap button. That was a hard way to learn about strap buttons. I sent the guitar to Ovation and they put a new top on it. About that time I started playing alot and since my Legend did not have a pickup I sold it and got an Adamas. I am not sure if yours has a pickup or not, but it if did it would be a 1617-4 Legend. Great guitars!

I presume it is no longer with you???? What a great guitar. I was in college in the 1972-1974 period, and would have loved to have had one of these, but couldn't afford it then. I was in the AIr Force for almost 20 years, and it got stolen during one of the shipments. A HARD lesson learned. Roger: I DID have this one in college with me -- at Kent State University circa 75-76. It was a chic magnet!

Before I got married, we used to get together and TRY to play guitar, me and my Applause and him and his electric(don't remember what it was). I can't imagine you would have known him. He was the quintessential burnt-out hippie freak, and had a short career at Ford before moving on. At my school(Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology---Terre Haute, IN) then, there were NO chicks to attract. One had to go to Indiana State on the other side of town(and I did) to find female companionship. My roommate tried the guitar approach (he had a cheap Yamaha), but I found it generally wasn't necessary. I will neither confirm nor deny that: 1) I was ever a hippy freak 2) Was burnt out 3) Graduated in 1977 4) Was quintessential 5) Ever had a career at Ford. 6) Or hung out with any of the above.
