Location: Omaha | I have an 1124 on layaway and am chomping at the bit to take it home! It's right-handed, but I'm going to convert it to a lefty - should work just fine. I compared it to a Taylor nylon string that was hanging across the room (which I'm not fond of, truth told...Taylors in general or this nylon string), the Ovation sounded better and had a similarly narrow (1 7/8") nut, which is much better than the 2 1/8" on my Pimentel!
A couple questions:
It doesn't have a pickup in it; if I decide to amplify it (very likely), can you run a plug through the strap peg on the bottom of an Ovation body? This seems like the most "nuetral" decision, in case I ever decide to sell it as a righty later on.
Anything else I should know about this guitar? From Ovation's website information, it looks like it was made in around '82-84; whoever owned it took very good care of it!
Thanks in advance! My first Ovation!! |

Welcome to the board. Nothing to tell you about your guitar except that it's a wonderful instrument. If you do put a pickup in it, there are a number of under saddle p/u's that do run thru the end pin. |

I guess my question was; is there something like an end block to run an endpin jack through? I've seen a number of Ovations with the jack through the lower back side of the bowl.
I'm looking forward to it...haven't had a useable nylon string for fingerstyle playing for awhile, this one seems perfect; the nut width is very close to my Larrivees (1.75"), and the scale length isn't as long as some more recent Ovations. |

You could always have the factory put a real pickup in it but I'd be tempted to just leave it. |

Location: Omaha | I'm only thinking pickup if I decide I want to use it for worship; otherwise, yeah, I'd be happy with it as a nice, on the couch (or small group) fingerstyle guitar. |
