Location: south east Michigan | We went up north to check out the fall colors last weekend. We came across a Amish furniture store in a big old red barn. I was standing there, hands on hips, deep in thought looking at this stool. Pam comes and says, "That would make a nice guitar stool." Well...there ya go. It even matched the living room furniture.
They had them bar stool high but I liked the lower one. The curved seat is on a lazy susan type swivel which makes it easy to turn and reach for stuff.
(I bet Al is checking out my mauve carpeting)

Location: Fayetteville, NC | Nice Find Brad. You can even fix it up with a cushion if you want to. I don't think it would be very hard to do. My Ex-wife used to do that sort of stuff and it reall was a matter of just finding the foam padding, matial to go over the padding and some staples to the under side of the seat. But then again, since it rotates it would depend on the amount of clearnce between the seat and the rotor type mechanism underneath.
heck...you might not even want that sort of thing done to it anyway. Why do i bring this sort of stuff up? Wheels always turning...gonna get me in trouble one day. :D |

Cushion? I dunno. It's kind of comfortable as it is. |

Great stool, my sister, who has a dairy farm in Ohio, has been augmenting her retirement funds by driving Amish workers from home to job etc. as they can't own a vehicle other than a horse driven buggy. She has formed some very friendly relationships with those families and relates some interesting stories of their ways of doing things, most of which prove we are all alike, they just don't have cars. Many of them would be happy and normal to post with us, but that would be blasphemous in their belief. They are great artisans and someday we will thank them for their perseverance.

Location: south east Michigan | I have a couple Amish customers up north who work with logging equipment. They do work with diesel engines and we have come up pretty complicated hydraulic systems for them. I never asked, but they might be Menonites (spell check?). |

A few years ago I wanted to take some solid body type lessons and I did not want to take my Breadwinner out into the cruel world. That blue you see is a newer Danelectro. I liked the "retro" look it had but what sold me how it played. It's made in Korea but they did something right. I have not seen them in stores since. Maybe the retro experiment failed.

Location: Midland, MI | SK-The local mom and pop (sidenote to Paul: I'm still miffed at them) has a bunch of Dano's hanging on the wall. Seems they're having a hard time moving them. In addition to that, they have a house brand (built by Samick). Not bad guitars, but they just had a sale last weekend...buy one, get two more for a penny each.
My first thought was, 'Wow, they can't move the house brand.' My second thought was, 'Hrmm, three guitars for the price of one.' My third thought was, 'He has a heckuva markup, even if he's breaking even at that rate.' Alas, I didn't make it down there for the 'sale.' |
