Anyway to include a url, you type: ' (but without the opening and closing single quotes there) Like this: The other Breadweiner dleegblue is talking about

Timing is everything and if the reserve is not met this round, he may not get nearly as high the next. Highest I have seen a Breadwinner go in a long time.

Add to the equation that this one looks to be a true closet classic, I hope that the last minute swoopers put this thing over $2000! {Of course, that's probably only because I'm saving for the OFC #47+, and I'm not in the hunt on this one.} If I was a real collector, I wouldn't hesitate to part with a grand or more to scoop this one up ... it's going to be worth a boatload more at some point down the line.

I guess an actual mint early one (early single-coils, nylon saddle bridge, end-mount jack, etched neckplate and battery cover) must be worth $2000 easy :) I would never have thought this version, basically a white deacon, would ever pull over 1K and although rarely played, it's not even mint (damn close).

But then I would have to have more that that to part with the Demon Deacon (in my gallery). Samova made me a honey of a deal on it, inho.

The Breadwinner Limited, which I believe is a better guitar, is still only at $620 and creaping up slowly. It still has some time to go and the Breadwinner has under 20 hours. With all this action on these two guitars, there are a couple of good looking vipers slipping under the radar at less than $300 each. Also, how about that UKll? What makes this particular one so special? ------------------------------ Viper (1979 original owner) Limited (1981 second owner)

It's every bit as mint, with no damage whatever. Sam estimated around $1000. Here's the scoop. Sam bought all of Ovation's leftover solidbody parts, bodies and hardware. I believe he said there were enough pieces to assemble 3 complete guitars. In 2001 he built (or had them built) the black deacon deluxe in question (in my gallery - I call it the Demon Deacon) and his double neck deacon. The DD has the better pickups, Schaller bridge, bar inlays in abalone... even the head logo is abalone. And I think Sam said it was one of two gloss black (not breadwinner textured) bodies he was surprised to receive from Ovation. I don't believe the other was assembled. Sam, please correct any of this that I got wrong. I don't think I'll ever part with it, but was curious. Does the year of assemblage matter to you collectors? What you price it at?

Joined: December 2001 Posts: 7222 Location: The Great Pacific Northwest | jasingram, There are different kinds of collectors that look for different things. To me date of assembly must be within the date the guitar was made, but that's just a defacto to the guitar must be made at the factory. I have enough parts to probably build quite a few guitars completely but I won't do it. They are for sale to people for repairs and other projects and of course my own maintenance. I sure would not want to be the unknowing recipient of a guitar that was "advertised" as being an Ovation to find out that someone else assembled it from parts. I do occastionally buy them though as they are also a great source of parts. Not all collectors are like this, and there is nothing wrong with that either. I very often see things like "near mint condition" with replaced pickups, or my favorite which I guess I need to be a Strat fan to understand is "Vintage Strat with replaced neck and pickups". To some that is fine, to me the first thing I do is restore the guitar to original equipment. Collecting is a personal thing and I'm guessing there are as many criteria for collectors as there are collectors.
