Location: Capital District, NY, USA Minor Outlying Islands | When I saw Kaki King a few weeks ago, she used a sans amp (see pic in gallery) that made the guitar sound miked. I was wondering if anybody else here used it, and what you thought about it. |

Location: Asheville, North Carolina | I use a LR Baggs Para DI...which is similar to the Sans unit. These preamps/direct boxes are very useful tools in so many situations. Helps keep the guitar sounds rich, alive, quieter, and acoustically more tranparent. It allows you to make up for physical acoustics of a particular venue no matter what pickup you have. They work as well in the studio for recording. I also like the new Fishman Aura system....but it's a bit more expensive and the Baggs unit is small enough to fit in my case.

Location: Charlotte NC | When I play my 1771LX through a PA at church, I use my Tech-21 Sansamp bass driver pre-amp. It's the same as their acoustic guitar Sansamp with the exception of not having a notch filter and it's mid-range is fixed so that you adjust it by moving bass and treble up and down around it. It does add a nice mic'd up sound with more fullness and adjustability for the room. The LX sounded great before without it, but is now even sweeter. |
