Last year I purchased and a Natural Graphite Q598 and Cobalt Blue (Q597). Brilliant sound and looks (but I guess that is relative to ones taste). Actually surprised having not heard of anyone on this board having one. Anyway, my question leads me to: Are these being discontinued due to lack of interest? Was/is the Q technology in the end going to be to expensive for the average consumer? (Kinda figured maybe Alpep would have got a drift from his sources). Just curious. For those that may not have heard one they are really terrific. Pricey I think being one of the main problems and possibly a bit to far off from their usual look. To ensure everyone that I am not totally nuts I did pickup a 1719-30CM with alot of help and knowledge from Tony. Absolutely brilliant and my favorite in sound/appearance when thinking of the more traditional looking ovations. (I even picked up a second 30CM with the help of Moody P.I. and an incredible price with full factory guarantee. As the year came closer to an end I picked up a mint 1869 CL Cherry Cherry Burst which I used for my lessons and daily learning before swapping over to one of my CM's. Shot myself in the foot for any of the new upcoming models I think. I maybe selling a 1719-30CM (New) and my 1869CL but it's still a bit to soon after Christmas. Wow, where did I go with this post... Back to my curiosity about the Q's....Sorry... :D

the current Q is an smt with Swish sound holes. Therefore it really does not push the envelope as the Q should or does it fill a void in the line since there is already an smt.

My feeling is that with the current crop of reissues there will be no need to keep the current q in the line.

I guess that could be a good thing so far as a limited number of Q's being produced. Again, in my opinion they are as brilliant in sound as any of the other SMT or CVT's easily. I know I wouldn't sell or trade mine but would still like to hear of someone that has expereince with them and their opinion so far as sound quality. Early on I felt that the concept although great would not see a result affordable to the average player. Thanks for your reply Al.
