I am now an Ovation owner. It is an 1861 Balladeer, cherry cherryburst. After playing it for about an hour, I love the tone, looks and feel of this instrument.

Action is good, but I will explore the shim situation, and more than likely remove at least one. I am a light strummer.

Congrats, I own an 1861 cherry cheeryburst. It's probably the guitar I play the most. Great comfort and feel, not bad sound for a shallow bowl, and it looks great. I hope you get as much use out of yours as I get out of mine.
