This is a cedar top S-771. Does anyone know if the "GC" designates that it was only made to be sold through Guitar Center? I can't find the cedar top S=771 on the Ovation website. Thanks.

I've never seen one designated that. There are two flavors, though, the older ones from earlier last year do not have truss rod covers, the newer ones do. Roger

I would guess it's purely the number that they sell. How do you like yours? Can you make a good deal with them or are they solid on their prices? Thanks

I think it's the other way around. The big customer goes to the supplier and asks for a special model only for the big customer. And, the supplier makes it. Why wouldn't they?

If you can get it for under $700 WITH the original case, you done good. The cedar is the same price as the regular spruce-top S771, from what I have seen. I think dmkozak has it right, manufacturers like to make big customers happy. Roger

If you can get one for a reasomable price, I would sure reccomend it as it probably wil truly be a collector's item. Bailey

Very nice flavor of ice cream. Also pulled down an overpriced - used - ME 12 string that felt amazing and sounded great too.
