Joined: December 2004 Posts: 49 Location: Illinois | Hi, My preacher deluxe has started to buzz and crackle when I move one of the selector switches (pickup selector). I suspect the connections are corroded as this guitar sat for about 20yrs before I purchased it. My queston is....is there some kind of contact cleaner spray that I can buy to clean the connections & switches? Or should I just bring it in to be taken apart and cleaned? I don't mind bringing it in however, if I can clean it at home I would rather. Any suggestions? Thanks John :( :(

Caig makes a range of different products: http://www.musiciansfriend.com/srs7/g=home/search?q=CAIG&d=tp The squeeze bottle of Pro-Gold might be better for a switch.

This technique has solved the vast majority of my crackling pot/knob problems. If your problem is crackling knees or joints, please try this approach and let us know if you get relief. :D

As far as my joints are concerned, Having broken all of my fingers as well as sustaining many many other injuries, surgeries and the like, I am lucky to be able to play cords :D All those years of football were cool when I was playing, Now I'm paying the price.

"It's not the age it's the mileage!" and right now I feel 100 :( I never realized just how much I would hurt so soon after retiring (from football) It makes me wonder how the next 40+ years are gonna feel. I still love football, but I have a young son and I hope he never plays. Unfortunalty he seems like he will have my size (if not bigger) and he may just end up playing. It's a rough sport and very few will make it all the way to the NFL. Tough way to have your dreams crushed.
