Looks like these Ovations are finally fetching good prices! (edit; heavy on the sarcasm)

Well when somebody actually bids on it, I'll say they're fetching good prices. I would bet that nobody will hit the openning bid.

For $5K, it had better come with select parts of Stevie Nicks' anatomy . . .

Uh...have you SEEN Stevie lately???

I'm not a big believer in buying guitars just as a "collectable", but this is one guitar that I would love to have if I could afford it. Lindsey Buckingham is one of the most underrated guitarists out there. I saw him do a solo fingerstyle version of "Big Love" a few years back that was absolutely jaw dropping!

John, I agree that Lindsay is one of the most underrated guitarists. I think he has an amazing style and tone that just amazes me. Every time I sit and listen to Rumours I take away something new...

Mind you - I would never pay 5K for anything just because someone else owned it, played it or even dropped sweat on it!!

I did own an old 6 string EKO once that Harry Chapin had actually played - I wonder if I could sell that for 5K??? Hmmmm

Being a huge fleetwood mac fan and especially Lindsey's I did some research on him and Ovations... While they were touring supporting the Tusk album I went to see them play in Oklahoma City during college (about 1980)... Lindsey played an Ovation on stage although not sure what model... He only used it live... His main acoustic guitar in the studio is an old Martin D-18 he got when he was young... Listen to it on the old "Buckingham Nicks" album on the song "Frozen Love" and you'll come away with a true appreciation of his guitar playing.. He now uses a Taylor for his steel string acoustic work on stage... As if he ever played this guitar in the studio or on stage is up in the air... I've got four Fleetwood Mac albums signed by all the members of Fleetwood Mac and would love to have this to add to my collection but, the price is quite high... You can pick up a brand new Rick Turner electric guitar just like Lindsey's for around $5,000.... I'd rather pay for that than this...

There is also the possibility that the ad is a load of crap and someone could get separated from their hard earned money. If I were to spend that kind of money for a collectible guitar it would be through a reputable dealer not on E-bay!

John,
Good point! If I had a $800 instrument with a $5000 history I would be going though a Dealer with at least $10,000 credibility.

Must be this guy has never met Al!

Without proper documentation, a guitar, a story and a plaque, it does not make. But hey its Ebay.... ;)
