I was sitting last night flipping thru the usual channels on TV, picking around on a guitar and I thought!... Why hasn't anyone started up "The Guitar Channel"?... We've got "The Golf Channel", "Speed Channel" and tons of religious channels... I'd bet there are tons of aspiring guitar players out there that would enjoy watching good instruction and great playing... If you watch the golf channel and see how many different ways there are to explain the same fundamentals you can see the options for guitars... There could be examples of all types of guitar playing along with artists showing how they play their rifts along with concerts... I would have loved it last night if I could have tuned into the "Guitar Channel" and picked up a new song or two or a new style... I'd place a bet that there are more guitar players at all levels than there are golfers... Just a thought!..

I had always believed that someone should produce a "MusicChannel" that could offer varying levels of music instruction (on various instruments) throughout the day, along with documentaries on jazz, rock, classical, blues, country, . . . whatever. A lot of people don't have the resources to pay for private lessons for themselves (or their kids). If it was available to them at THEIR convenience in their homes, more people'd take advantage of it.

It'd be better than the endless, mindless video loops on MYV/VH1, etc . .

Comcast Cable offers some guitar instruction via On Demand that is free. I haven't had a chance to utilize it yet, but it looks like there are several lessons on the menu in different genres of music. I'll try to post more details when I can view the On Demand menu again.

Dish network was also talking about a "guitar channel" a few months ago. Don't think anything has ever come of it.

Hi,

If they're looking for someone to demonstrate all of the bad habits, I'm in! Wonder what they would pay?
