Location: Tempe, AZ | Hi Guys
I'm going to be putting a few Ovations and other guitars up on eBay. I've never really sold guitars before and would be interested to know what you guys "look" for when seeing pics on ebay?
Fretboard? Headstock? Inside of Sound Hole w/model sticker? Pre-amp? What else?
Thanks in advance for any advice! |

-At least 5 clear, well lit and in focus shots.
- Full face of Top.
- Show electronics.
- Show the label.
- Back of neck - no marks.
- If dings/dents - show them
- Picture of lovely Lady and a Cat can help!

Location: Cherry Hill, NJ | Since digital camers seem to need more light, use a well lighted room, or outside if possible. Try not to use a flash as the flash light reflects off a guitar's shinny finish. Get ideas from pics of other e-bay sellers.

One picture I never see is the fretwear. Get a closeup of those first three or four frets, show the wear (or lack thereof).
Others will have their own points too. |

Course he rips the info off from a guy called Dave! |

Location: 6 String Ranch | Depending on the guitar you want to show all the good stuff about the guitar. I also look for the pics of all that's wrong, or could be percieved to be wrong. Best not to get suprises later. I never see action measurements which would be nice. This is mostly for newer guitars, I figure that any old National is going to need a full set up anyway no matter what they say so I figure that into the bid. |

Location: Powder Springs, Ga. | The easiest thing to do if you're using a digital camera is to take tons and tons of pictures using different lighting, flash and no flash, different angles, indoors and outdoors, from close-up and zoomed-in from farther away. Then simply pick the ones that look best. This is the best thing about digital, the more pictures you take the same it costs you. Make sure your backround is simple and clean. When I see pictures of guitars with a dumpy room behind them I know that that's the house where a pig lives so most likely the guitar is not as nice as they say. Hope this helps. |

Location: Atlanta GA | I like Bentman's comment about a clean background... Although I never really thought of it, I too am reluctant to buy anything if it is pictured in the middle of what looks like a dump. Just for the reason he said, if they don't take care of anything else, odds are the guitar didn't get much special treatment, especially since it's being sold off. I think Jeff Foxworthy said it when he said "You might be a Redneck if people keep stoppng at your house because they think you are having a Yardsale" |
