I got an Ovation Celebrity Model No. CC 057 for christmas and obviously its a great guitar. however just today i realized the plug in on the back had somehow come unscrewed and fell into the guitar. well, i got it all screwed back in tight and everything but there's a gold circular piece that i assume came loose from somewhere in there and i cannot figure out where to go to figure out what this piece is and/or where it goes. its about the size of a dime, gold with teeth around its hole. forgive me for the description as i am completely stupid with electronics (esp. on guitars). anyways, if someone out there can help me i'd greatly appreciate it.

It's just a lock washer. Unscrew the nut from the jack again, pass it into the guitar body, put the lock washer on the jack, put it back through the hole and put the nut back on. The lock washer helps keep the jack from turning in the hole.

Whatever you do, don't allow the jack to turn in the hole when tightening the nut. Make sure the wires inside don't get all twisted or you risk breaking off one of the jack's solder posts.

It sounds like a type of lock washer. It probably goes between the jack and the inside of the body of the guitar, but that would require unscrewing and then re-screwing the jack with the washer in place. You could just hold onto it and replace it if and when the jack loosens up a second time.

You could, Mitch, but you run the risk of the jack spinning in the hole. It's happened to me. Took me 2 days to figure out it was a broken wire on the jack when it started cutting out intermittently then just stopped working.
Better just to fix it right, IMHO.

Plus without the washer it's probably going to come loose again sooner than later...
