I missed out on the 1537, but still have a bad case of GAS and ran into a 1989 Classic for a little over $400. It looks and sounds like it's in perfect shape, but I've never had a nylon string and can't figure out from the website what the difference is between the 1713 and 1763. I did look in the archives, but there wasn't a whole lot and nothing in the last couple years. Your opinions are welcome.

1713 = full body
1763 = cutaway

Thanks, Moody. I guess I should have figured that out. I was hoping for something more like "it's the best sounding Ovation aside from a 1537" but I guess that's not going to happen. It would have made me feel better though.

They are terrific guitars. Very good sound unplugged, great sound plugged in.

with the AAA cedar and the deep bowl, the 1763 is a wonderful guitar...

as some would say, not a Spanish hand made classical but, at least for me, a good combination. a question that has come up before and answered by one of our factory members - if it is US Ovation, solid top, cedar, it is AAA.

Thanks guys. I'll keep watching for them. I'm getting tired of being outbid on ebay, so I may just get the one I saw in a guitar store to avoid the frustration.

I think you might like the 13 better than the 16, nylon and cedar go together better than spruce and nylon.

Thanks again for the input. I could get it and something else for the price of the 1537, but my wife already thinks I have too many guitars. I keep reminding her that she said I could have as many guitars as I want, but just one wife. Lots cheaper that way, too. Maybe I'll quit my job and go to work in a guitar store.
