Does anybody have any comments on this specific guitar? My brother sold it to me years ago and I'm looking to possible sell it... I did a google search on the model number and NOTHING came up. Nothing on eBay. Nothing ANYWHERE.
It's an acoustic/electric in very good condition.
Please post any information you may possible have. THANKS!!! Michael |

Location: Waurika OK | According to the price list reference, (click on Reference to the left on this page), it is a Balladeer, made one year only, 1983; $720 List price. Can't comment on the guitar itself.

Source is the HTML pricelist in the reference section to the left. Other than that what are you looking for. You can look at the electronics for the preamp type (OP24 or OP24+ perhaps) I would think it would be comparably valued to other Balladeers of its age and condition. Probably $300-$500.
I could be wrong if there is something particularly unique about it. But these are reasonable guesses. |

Location: Andover, MN | A little more info... Yep, it's a shallow bowl and has only a volume control. The body is in excellent shape and has a hardshell case that goes with it (with a funky 80's baby blue "faux fur" lining). When you shake the guitar a bit, you can hear the electronics kind of move around inside (sounds like a bunch of wires hitting the side of the inner bowl). However, when I plug it in to my monitor, it sounds VERY CRISP AND CLEAN. No shorts, volume control works... It's just that I've never seen this guitar advertised on the web anywhere, so I'm wondering if there's so few of these out there... I was just curious if anybody owns this or has any idea what I could sell it for if I so desired... |

Your guitar is the first model of the shallow bowl cutaway Balladeer. The electronics are the original FET. What you are hearing when you shake the guitar is the wire hitting the bowl. An easy fix to secure the wire.
The problem with getting top value for your guitar is the electronics. Starting the year after your guitar was made, shallow bowl Balladeers had equalizers for much improved plugged in sound. Those models are #1861 and there are a lot of them around, which will make yours more difficult to sell. I'd list it on eBay for a starting price of $300. If you are not prepared to sell it for $300-$350, keep it. Is it a natural top? Those sometimes get higher prices on eBay. |

Location: Boise, Idaho | There is one at the local GC that they have listed at $600, is not in great shape and has the original tuners replaced with Grovers. They said they couldn't go lower than $550 and the original owner says he wants to buy it back. I told them to sell it to him. They think it's special, but no one could tell me why. They even had it next to a new Standard Balladeer at $475 for awhile. I would not have paid more than $300 for it and that would have pissed my wife off greatly. |
