Thanks for the suggestions guys.

Only on this venue can we go from sore fingers, to dietary suggestions, blatant use of drinkable spirits, and uses of, taking trips to see someone, so we can watch their partner insult them. :D

I think I'll use Eric Clapton's remedy and soak my fingertips in surgical spirits (rubbing alcohol at least 91%) to toughen them up. :)

Just a note from someone who suffered once and got over it, I had to learn to live with the torture of double mandolin strings. The way I got over it was a week trip to Borrego Desert at a Desert Rangers govt provided home, with a supp;y of booze and pot (not my gig) and my band and I playing 20 hours a day for a music starved bunch of desert dwellers. We just played and ate, played and drank, played and smoked (I didn't smoke), and played and played. after that my fingers never became wimpy again as long as I kept up the playing.

Bailey (Please desert Rangers, don't investigate)

I somehow or another don't think they would have appreciated my guitar playing as much as yours, and I would have been clubbed like a baby seal in the first hour. :D

The fingers are getting tougher, I've only been playing about 3 months now. :)

As for the "Man on Fire" method of finger toughening, that would lead to an early retirement, musically. :D Great movie though.

Isn't this the kind of mature British diplomacy that worked so well in 1939?

I must say "I DID NOT INHALE"!!!

HOWEVER, I did breathe quite a bit, and the air was somewhat conducive to thoughts not generally thought of by the so called "right wingers", if they had been there, they probably would have abandoned some of their principles for a few deep breaths and a few hours of soaking up some Borrego Desert night time beauty.

But, what do I know, I just play mandolin in a desert setting surrounded by people who keep burning some kind of weed!!

Yeah, I've had the same experiences at indoor concerts. I never inhaled, but I was in close proximity of the smoke. :D
