I was wondering if any of you had one of these Travelite cases. They are semi-rigid foam deals, admittedly not as good as tribal-planet bags, but 1/2 the price. I use a hardshell for my acoustics, and transport them on my bike using a gigbag. I recently sold my tele, and acquired another solid body without a case. And I was thinking for the electric just forgoing my hardshell / gigbag practice and getting this semi-hardshell gigbag only. I've never found humidity an issue with the solid-bodies, so that would not be a concern.
Thanks for your thoughts

Never heard of them let alone used them. But you're right...SOMEBODY here should have an opinion. If they don't it will be the first time ever. ;)

You got that right. :D

I'm looking for something inexpensive for when I go visit shutins. Other occasions I use my hard shell. Is there something that would fit my 97 collectors.

I saw them for the first time last fall @ Guitar Center. I was just wondering if anyone had real world experience with them. Hohner makes a similar case for their lanikai ukes. Just do a websearch and you'll find a bunch. I'm sure one of them will work. They have backpack straps.
Kaces makes something like them too

Al is working on getting these cases for our beloved Ovations. In the meanwhile, the ones you see on ebay seem to be the only ones available. TKL makes a line of them, and they did a short run of them with round insides and the Ovation logo. These cases are much better than a gig bag although, if someone STEPS on it, your guitar is toast. As for the '97 Collector's...for the year or so that I had one I looked high and low for a lighter case to put it in and came up with nothing. Classical cases were not deep enough. Even though the TKL case that comes with it is the best case I've ever had my hands on, it does weigh a ton.

well, for my acoustic ovations, I think tribal planet would be the way to go. However, for a solid body electric, one of these travelite or lanikai or hohner or kaces semi-hard cases would do the trick. Only way to know, I suppose, is just get the thing. I'll report back after a month of lugging the guitar on my back around brooklyn and upstate. I'm glad summer's here. Cheers.
