Has anyone ever put a set of baritone strings on a Longneck and tuned down to B or C? Did the nut need to be recut? What did it sound like? What did it play like?

Not sure about "baritone" strings but I did put a set of 13's on my longneck and tuned it down another full step. What a rumbling roaring beast it was. Stayed in tune well and really had an awesome deep deep sound. Did not have to make any changes to the nut and tuning down another full step made the strings feel like 12's.

Cool. Baritone strings are usually a bottomE string replaced by a suitable top bass string, then the normal (heavy guage) guitar bottom E replacing the A string, and so on with a B string replacing the top E string. Feel free to spend a pile of money (having the nut recut if necessary) and experiment, and then post the results. Thanks. ;)

A tip from Matt smith that works.
Pick up a .076" from the Mandocello set and string a set of .013", like you said, without the high E.
I did this on my 1112 and it required no filing or nut work. Just adjusted the truss rod a smidge.

Woody, does that work with the regular tuning also or just when you want to drop down to B or C?

The .076" is tuned to B but will allow for drop.
The #5 string is E.
