I know that there's always an ebb and flow to prices of O's on eBay, but I just got this 1767 for $346 with shipping:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=7334229620&...

Mr. Moody also just got a great deal on a 1627.

For those who may be looking on eBay, this appears to be a good time to buy.

Glad you got that one Mitch! I was considering it, but was a little late on the trigger.

I remember my dad use to tell me.. "you only get what you pay for"...that, with the ebay competition, and the scrutiny of the high-dollar instruments these days, that price was about average, compared with a MINT 1767 I purchased form a collector last year that was twice that much....

Don't forget these gems (mostly from my dad, some not):

Buy cheap, buy twice.
Least expensive doesn't mean lowest price.
Highest price doesn't mean best quality.
Value is where function meets price.

My dad's best advice....say "I'm sorry you feel that way". nothing to do with guitars of course , but it saves you a lot of money to buy more guitars.
as for prices on ebay..it's summer, although I have seen some sweet deals lately I admit.

Pawn shops - You get to see the actual instrument before you purchase it. You can talk them down.... You also have the option of lay away.

My last two ebay grabs were poorly described pieces of shit that the owners claimed were in great shape. Of course, then they claimed UPS damage but did not insure it.

I firmly believe that my ebay purchasing days are just about finished, too damn many scam artists.

Dig it....there are too many great guitars offered by the various OFC members to worry about the scammers on ebay. I would rather pay a premium and know I am getting quality.

So far, I haven't had to sell on eBay...sold or traded within the OFC; fair number of guitars bought have been through a listing on the OFC. All of my new guitars have been through Al. Haven't been burned yet.

Through eBay, even if I have gotten what I expected, tough on the nerves waiting to see what is actually delivered.

FWIW:
I received the guitar today. I actually got it for my secretary who is giving it to her son for his 17th B'day.

The disclosed flaws were actually much more minor than described. This guitar looks like it was never played. Zero fret wear, perfect action, new Elixirs on it.

Needless to say, my secretary is very pleased. She would have paid up to about $500 for an Ovation Legend in this condition.

Lastly, it came shipped from Arizona via UPS. The box was totally undamaged and it was delivered on the scheduled date.

I know that not all Ovation purchases on eBay turn out this well, but this guitar is a real gem at a rock bottom price.
