I didn't mean it to happen.
And it was over before I knew it.
I felt dirty. The long hot shower did not help.
But she was right there.. across from the Ovation display. So easy....so, so easy.
She was a Taylor DDsm ...cut-away...lot of abalone. Rumor is that she had been seen around town with a guy named Doyle Dykes. She sounded great. The best way to describe her is that she sounded like my AD-II....My AD-II...it made me think of my AD-II sitting in my living room...waiting for me.
This Taylor flirted with me. Oh yes...she was a pro. The only flaw was in her neck. It seemed a little wide. But that's probably because I'm used to my AD-II.. *sigh* my AD-II.
Well, by that point I was not thinking clearly. Maybe it was her spruce / maple scented perfume. I asked her if she wanted leave with me. Then...reality struck. Yes...she would leave with me if I paid.... if I paid!!! Although the fog was lifting I whispered the question..." okay..how much?" She said she would do be a "favor" and give me a "discount". I felt cheap. Her discount price came to over $3000.00!!!!! It was like a slap in the face with an icepack. But I was again myself. I thought of my AD-II back home and how she would never have asked that much of me.
I said, "No...it was nice to hold you for for a short time but I cannot commit to all the care and special needs you would require." So...I said goodbye...and left.

I was a cold, dark and lonely night. The fear, shock and temptation gripped you as you heard the words "She has a sister and she's a lot easier to get your hands on".
You want her, you need her and you fear the day you run into her.
Will this nightmare never end?

Almost made a similar error once myself, Brad, but it turned out to be a horrible mistake.

Lesson learned?

Never fool around with Dykes.

...Just to show that we encourage diversity and are not just a collection of Ovation fan-boys, let me say that the Taylor mentioned in the story above is really an awesome guitar. I'd be interested to hear if anyone else gets a chance to play one.
To much to pay??? Maybe....but when your not buying, it don't matter.

I got a chance to hear Doyle play his at the 04 Summit. He taught me three little techniques that night (it was a Master's Series clinic).

And you have good, pulp fiction skills as well Brad!

You should tuck away the encounter is the far recesses of your mind, never speak of it again. But when you are old and weary you can reminicse back on your moment of forbidden pleasure, and it will bring a smile to your face.

As for that Jezebel of a guitar, the evil temptress that she is; all made up like a Mardigras Drag Queen, Justice and recompense will come pouring forth upon her abalone encrusted body! Can I get an AMEN!!!

Sounds like she was high maintenance. Beauty fades, man, you did the right thing. Go with the not-a-supermodel-but-still-good-looking, reliable, consistent one and you'll never be sorry.

How did that song go?

If you wanna be happy for the rest of your life, never take an expensive Taylor home to your wife
So, from my personal point of view, keep on playing the ADII.

the dykes IS worth 3K...
remeber roundbackers, that guitar will age like fine wine, better than any O or A. maple, maple , maple.
there, i said it...
i still wouldn't drop the change on it though.

i'd rather have a D28 AND an ADII for that much $$.
but that's just me...

Doyle was amazing at last years CMS. Held several hundred avid musicians spellbound when he played.

Anyway, it's an awesome guitar. You'll never see one at GC but if you find one....play it.
