i have a chance to but a 1979 ovation 12 string. it has a crack i the top. just like my elite. the dude wants $200 for it. i would like to know if its worth it, and if the tops are fixable. thanks for your help.

What model is it? Pacemaker? GC 12? Custom Legend? Tops are easy to get fixed thru the factory.

What kind of crack, finish, or a serious one through the wood? If everything else about the instrument is OK, I can't imagine it wouldn't be worth $200. Regardless of the model. Hows it look? Well taken care of? I just bought one for just about that amount of money (without a case). All of the mediating conditions MAster Moody mentions would only add value to the guitar. Sooooo. Let us know how it sounds.
