Enough is enough with 12 fret slotheads and rare Elites. ;)
Lets talk Trekkers.
I have had mine since Al delivered it to me at the tour. I wanted a guitar to take with me into harsh enviroments.
Does is sound great? Well no...not really. But it's plenty good enough. My wife says it sounds kind of plinky. But she is comparing it to my AD-II.
How does it play? Better than you might think. I took a shim out from under the saddle. The action is now as good as any Elite LX I have tried.
Fit? Finish? Looks?....Even though it's a laminate top, it still has a nice book matched spruce grain to it. The fretboard and frets are neatly finished.
I don't cringe when I hear that first chord. It is what it is and it does what it is supposed to do very well.

But the real question is, How far does it go when Temp kicks it?

"harsh environments"

I presume that's the walk from the air-conditioned house to the air-conditioned car?

Thursday we leave for the Grand Canyon, Zion National Park, and Las Vegas. I have heard all to often what that dry desert heat can do to a finish. I would not dare to take either of my other two out there.

If you REALLY want something cool, you should turn it into an Ovation baritone ukulele.

It might be a baritone uke before he gets done with it...

I'm thinking of scooping a second Ovation as well - a camping / cottage / fireside guitar. I'm looking at either the Multi-Hole Trekker, or a M.O.B.57 (I like the funky blue.. hehe).

Couple questions, does the Trekker have a pre amp / tuner or is it straight acoustic? And in terms of body type, is it a mid type or shallow? Figured since you had one, you'd definately know the answer...

Thanks in advance and enjoy the Trekker!

Mike
