So what's up with all of those refurbished, and factory re-conditioned Ovations that you see all over Ebay? Are they a good investment, or are we better off just buying used?

I'm STILL waiting for my Legend to arrive, and I STILL can't put that elcheapo Matrix down!

This has been discussed extensively. Just search the archives. In my own personal opinion, WHO you buy the guitar from is perhaps more important than weather it's new, used, FRG, etc.

New = New and sold through an Authorized Dealer. Full Warranty and a chance for support.

FRG = New but sent back for various reasons to be fixed then released as New/FRG with limited Warranty. Once fixed they are good as new.

Just Like New, tags and registration still in case! = Used, no Warranty.

Stamped Used = Dealer Demo or Floor Model. Caveat emptor.

Used = Used. Do you trust the Seller?

Nearly every other term is smoke and mirrors.

There seems to be an awful lot of FRG's, not just on eBay, but many of the on-line stores also have hundreds of 'em.

Does anyone know if there was a bad batch? Did the machinery go haywire one Friday afternoon. Did someone at the Ovation factory get sacked for no good reason?

I wonder if Ovation is just getting rid of excess stock at cheap prices. From what I've read, the FRG's are impossible to fault.

Weird that there's so many of them. I've bought one and hope to have it Downunder soon.

All of the FRG's on eBay were the guitars that were produced during the last OFC Tour when all of us fuckwits were running through the place, playing with all the controls and distracting all of the good people that work there . . . .

. .. . I'm Joking.
(but if you DO see one listed with "llama turd" somewhere in it's description . . . GRAB IT! . . . it'll be worth money some day . . .)
