Calling all Ovation Geniuses:
Is anyone able to share their opinion on this model based on personal experience. It looks nice but I feel I'm overlooking something.

Thanks Guys.

I've owned several of them. The 1114 Folklore (and it's cousins the Josh White, FD14, and U681) are my favorite Ovations. 12 fret, wideneck, slothead. What's not to like.

But beware, the 1114 in this auction is fucked up. He's installed classical large barrel tuners on it. It'll be near impossible to tune with steel strings. Granted, you can put the proper tuners on it for about $50. But if he's stupid enough to have large barrel tuners on a steel string guitar it make you wonder what else he could have experimented with. Maybe he groved the nut to also handle nylon strings, etc. For $400 it's a great guitar, just be aware of exactly what you're getting.

Dave

Thanks Dave...that's the kind of detail I'm looking for. You may very well have saved me from a very frustating Ebay experience. Are you able to tell from the pictures if the strings currently on the guitar are nylon?

I can hear the seller now: "I'm not the original owner and I don't know too much about guitars. Sounded good to me. No, you can't have your money back...all sales are final!"
