| I just received my Ovation Standard Elite LX and I'm not sure how to lower the action. I have read that it comes low but this particular one is very high. Can someone help a noob? |

Location: closely held secret | Congratulations on your new ax! I love mine.
There should be 2 or 3 shims (mine had 3) under the saddle. Loosen the strings and carefully lift the saddle, and remove one. Restring and try it.
Taking all of them out isn't necessarily the best thing, as it does effect the tone if the angle is too low.
Find the best compromise between action height and sound quality.
Play and enjoy! (and welcome to the club) |

| Thanks for your advice. I did find a link to the manual on a previous page. I can't wait to tinker with it! |

I was poking around in my 1866 (shut UP, Cliff!) the other day, and noticed that the can on my op40 has the same XLR jack on it that my OPPro does.
They will swap physically, but the cans appear to be wired differently, because neither preamp works in the other can.
Too bad, I would have liked to put XLR on my shallow bodies, as they are the ones I most often play plugged in.
Anyone else messed around with this? (XLR on OP40) |

Location: East Tennessee | The shims are usually a different thickness.
Try removeing the thinner one first, if the action is still too high, remove the thicker one and replace with the thinner one. I don't think you would have to remove both.
Enjoy your new "O". :) |
