I have a general question. My friend owns a deep bowl Ovation 1112 (custom balladeer I think).
He said the electronics stopped working and he thinks about replacing them by a new model. Maybe even the OP-pro XLR.
Can you tell me how much that would cost?
OP-40, OP 50 and OP pro. I dont know anything about the prices.
Andvantages, disadvantages?
Thank you |

Just to know anything, lets talk about replacing both versions -preamp and piezo or just preamp or just piezo! what would that cost? Do you guys know the prices for electronics?
thx |

Location: Tampa, FL | Don't know prices but if you do a search on the terms "preamp replace" in the discussion forum, you'll find a few threads from the past that deal with the topic of replacing preamps. Which ones to pick and why.
The gist of the discussion is...
OP24 is one of the best preamps (I have heard rumors that the OP-Pro is a repackaged dressed up OP24).
If you want to go to XLR, Optima seems to be universally preferred. I know I prefer the Optima in my 6591 to the Op-Pro in my 2005 Collectors. I just sold the 6591 but not becuase of the preamp.
Price seems to be $300 - $400 but you would have to check with the triage unit in CT to get the real skinny. |
