I was wondering if it is possible to have an admas specialy made to one's specifications and design. Does someone know if it is possible or not?

Thank you very much

Contact Al Pepiak from this board. He's an authorized Ovation dealer and the only person you want to deal with. If you're willing to spend the money, Ovation will build you anything you want.

For real!!!! I'have always wondered that. Do you have an idea on how much such an oder would be, ballpark. I'm saying that because the person who lives next door to me just baught a "d'aquisto" not sure about the spelling sorry. Anyway, he paid something like 3000 or 4000 for it. I have tried it on two occasions, and i have to say, wow, that's one of the best guitar i have ever played. But i felt that for that price he should have had a guitar build specialy for him, specialy since the difference isn't that big with adamas. Smae type of technology in my opinion.

But thanks i will certainly try to find out more on this. Just my luck, the day i'm going to decide to have one built an elite 1868-C is gonna show up on ebay. hahahahahaha!!!

Thank you very much for the info. I'm gonna have a nice christmas this year.

Not to hijack this thread, but does anyone know the charge for finishing the top in another Ovation color not offered on the particular model you want? In theory, it should just involve finishing the top as though it was going on a different model. I assume this can be done, the question is how expensive would something like this be?

I believe that Paul and Jeff are incorrect. Dave and I have requested special guitars and Woody and I are trying to get a special guitar made.

We were told NO both times.

Slight mod of an existing model.

I agree.. if he wants an Adamas....he would have to work within the current production capability...

Dave and I tried to get a Uterus in a 12 string and were told to go away.

a 12 String Uterus would violate too many local noise ordinances

.....too many permits required to build something like that

Maybe you two should have requested it under assumed names.

I was a contractor for years. For those of you who understand a contractor's world, during the slow season I would do anything a customer asked for. I'd even go to their house on a Saturday morning and talk about the project over coffee for 2 or 3 hours. But during my busy season you were lucky if I returned your phonecall within a week. I suspect Ovation is in the busiest season they've seen in ages.

That explains it perfectly...so, I will save my custom order for whenever the factory has more down time, and I imagine alpep can advise us in that regard...

I don't want anything complicated, just some modification on the curent slothead re-issues to make them more me.

I'll defently try maybe they'll go for it.

dmkozak, I just ordered a discontinued finish and paid an additional $100. But you'd better hit Al with the exact guitar and finish you want to find out for sure.

The factory will evaluate your request and inform your dealer what is and is not possible. Sometimes it's technically not possible. Sometimes it's just something that's more trouble than it's worth to them. It IS a factory trying to make a PROFIT, you know? What I have yet to do (for obvious reasons) is offer to significantly overpay for something that "can't" be done. My gut feeling is that at a certain price point even the "no way" contour bowl Classic LX would become a reality ...
