I paid $300. I was told "no issues". HERE'S the forensic lowdown. As the top bellied, the action became impossible. So someone shaved down the bridge to about half it's thickness so the saddle could be lowered enough. As things got worse, the top cracked at the seam and the bridge split right across where the screws are. So a "bridge fixing" device was added to reduce the bellying problem (it was necessary to glue in a wood block against the bowl for the "tone bar" to push against). The top split was glued (no wood patch on the underside...just glue)and the crack in the bridge was glued. Now with MOST...not all...of the belly gone, there's a shaved-down bridge with an insanely high saddle sticking out of it...so the saddle is being pulled into a wavy line and is largely unsupported. Oh... forgot to mention...somewhere in time the neck/headstock joint cracked and was repaired. I asked for a refund of my $300 plus $40 shipping, PLUS $20 for me to ship it back. Am I being terribly unreasonable? John <>{

Investing in a plane ticket for the purpose of personally delivering the guitar back to the seller and inserting it straight up his arse might be considered unreasonable. Unless, of course you had enough frequent flyer miles to do it for free. Dave

Her email address is mnt mama maggie. I don't know if she knows ANYTHING about guitars, but she said her husband is a master at 12 string fingerstyle and is selling this and an Alverez 12string, but keeping the Guild. Said he plays in LOTS of alternate tunings on 12string. Now THAT sounds like someone who ought to know this guitar has issues. I'm waiting for a reply to my email. They are in the middle of moving from Utah to Texas and she said she'd be out of com for a week. I don't know if that week is over yet. Should I do anything else while I await a reply?

That sort of story scares the heck out of me. I just hate being disappointed (i.e. defrauded) and the hassle of trying to get out of the deal. At least when I look at something before I buy, I can try to eliminate the risk or feel like it's my fault for not investigating further. Not much you can do when you buy sight unseen. Demand your money back.

Sorry this happened to you, BHB. Was this the one that had the unidentified 'block' showing through the center hole?
From how you describe the condition, I would say just about any tuning would be 'alternate'.

Yes, I used Paypal. No, that's not the one. There were 3 out-of-focus pics with some sort of US Marine flag behind the guitar. I do have to say that even though there's a lot of buzzing, it does play well to the 12th fret, and it SOUNDS BEAUTIFUL! Much nicer to my ear than my '02 CL 12 sounded. As soon as I get this resolved, I'm determined to get another one. I'm hooked!

I would immediately file the dispute with EBay...I wouldn't even wait for a reply. The seller had to have been aware of those issues with the guitar.

Be quick though. Ignore the wait for a week nonsense.

Definately start both Ebay and Paypal's complaint process. ASAP! Unless you want a new door-knocker.

That's about as high as I can get a good kick these days. But I agree with everybody here. Don't wait, get the complaint process going. You daughter is absolute correct --- CYA.

Against everybody's good judgement...I've decided to keep the guitar. As I surmized from all the emails I got from this woman, she's recently divorced,somehow wound up with 3 of her x-husband's guitars, and knows absolutely nothing about guitars. So there was no malintent on her part. As for the guitar, I spent last Saturday digging into things. All the repairs look very good, and I believe the old problems are stabalized. And as I said before...this is one of the easiest playing, nicest sounding 12 strings I've had my hands on. I played it last Sunday on our worship team, which made me decide that I want electronics by next-year's tour (OP Pro Studio hooked up to K&K Pure Western P/U). I don't ask for much, do I? John <>{
