How do you think it would sound in comparison to a Legend Elite Deep Bowl 12?
And how difficult/expensive would it be to add electronics? |

Location: SoCal | They are really two different animals. You'll find people here who will swear by either one. I personally prefer the later Ovation deep bowl 12's. Personal preference....
Couple hundred bucks to add an under saddle p/u... |

Location: Tampa, FL | Just purchased a 1115-4 a couple of months ago. I would classify its sound as harpsichord like. I do notice that depending on how you hold it, loosely so the whole body vibrates or with a little more grip/clutch, you can dramatically affect the quality of the bass tone of the guitar.
Never played any other O 12 string.
I wouldn't add electronics. But that's purely personal. |

Location: GATLINBURG TENNESSEE :) | Yeah, I was kinda' wondering about the differences in the way they built the early models, in relation to the ones from the 80's, i.e. improvements. I know the 1115 is a slot-head, and some have said that improves the sound, but it may have a wider neck, and if that's the case, would'nt play as easily as the newer ones.(that is, with my short fingers) |

The only other option I would consider would be the Fishman Acoustic Natural II with the addition of the little hole mic. |

Location: Tampa, FL | I think 12 frets to the body has more effect on sound than the slot head. I'm thinking a Fishman somethingorother with a through-the-strap-pin jack would be the best choice aesthetically but Others here would know better about how well it would work in a real environment. |

Location: Canton (Detroit), MI | I have both a 1118-1 Glen Campbell 12-string (VERY similar to the 1115) and an Adamas Melissa Etheridge 12-string. The sound of the 1115/1118 is quite different than other Ovation 12-strings, fuller, but more "airy". Kinda hard to describe.
If you have the money, I'd spring for an Adamas 12-string. Absolutely the BEST! I let a friend who is a Martin maven play my ME 12-string and she pronounced it the best 12-string she had ever heard.
I don't care for the 12-fret-to-the-body configuration of the 1115/1118.....cramps my playing style, tends to keep me to cowboy chords. But the neck width is not an issue, it is pretty similar to the other Ovation 12-strings(I have short fingers, also).
If you want a guitar with electronics, I'd buy a later one with it built-in.
