Location: Charny | I bought an Ovation about 3 years ago and I would like to know more informations about it.
The model is a VIPER III with 3 single coils, a maple solid body and a maple neck and it was built in the late 70's.
Is the Viper III as good as the Viper with 2 single coils in term of sound and quality of its components? |

Location: Maryland, USA | My Viper has a replaced bridge pickup, and competes with electrics that cost over $1000 in sound.
But from what I know, the Viper III is of the same quality, and some (StephenT for example) prefer the Viper III.
So rest assured, your Viper III is as good (or better) than standard Viper's. |

Some prefer the viper for live playing because with the viper 3 there is the slim chance you could turn all 3 pups off and look foolish with no sound coming out of your amp  |

Location: Charny | Thanks for your answers! I think I will never sell this guitar cause no guitar with single coils can beat that sound.... so much gain! You think you play with a guitar with a humbucker at the bridge!
Do you consider electric ovation guitars as collection guitars? I think the answer is yes! |

Location: North Texas | My Viper looks like the one in the above link, the sunburst, but with 2 pickups. It's an older model (E6707). I need to do some rehab on the electronics, it just started cutting out. Might be the jack, or the switch. I guess after thirty some odd years, it's due for a makeover. |
