It is amazing, it's the best sounding guitar I ever played with. Dave already said a lot of good things about this guitar, but it's even better than that. you can add me to the list Dave. Tom

If I were to compare each individual component of the FD-14's sound, next to the U681T or the Lowden, it doesn't seem like fair contest. The FD14 has a darker flatter tone. Indidvidual notes don't have much overtone. It doesn't sustain half as long as the Ute and well the Lowden sustains twice as long as the Ute. But some how none of that seems to matter once you start to play it. It just comes alive. The haromonics come alive (especially around "D" and all the of individual aspects that don't compare so well are moot. If I had to live with only one guitar, the FD-14 would be it. Between sound, playabilty, versatility and comfort it's the one guitar I can see myself playing forever. And that's saying something given that the Lowden and Ute are truely fabulous world class guitars.

And when I saw this pictures you posted of it, I knew that a very special guitar had gone to a very special home. I hope you keep it forever. With the aquiring of the 87 C and the 1773 LXPM, I'm pretty well tapped out right now (there's also the cost of the kitchen remodel and new appliances, and Xmas, etc....). $1400-$1500 is a bit more than I had hoped to spend, but I do believe the FD14 is worth every penny of that.

Open tunings on the FD14 will just blow you away! Never gave it much thought until Witko mentioned it to me and had me give it a try.

I often drop to DADGAD... Open tunings on the FD14 will just blow you away! Never gave it much thought until Witko mentioned it to me and had me give it a try. The Lowden was made to play in that tuning, I swear...it sounds incredible. I believe I left a similar suggestion on the big Ute thread, shortly after I received it....I think it is a very appealing sound...though I know exactly one song in it...
