Location: Marlton, NJ | This question is for all of you brave souls who installed a preamp into an acoustic only guitar...
how do you choose the right spot to install it? There are no flexible parts on the OpPro, so there is really no margin for error.
Any thoughts? |

The placement on the "05" should be optimal. Do you have your preamp and can kit? |

Location: Carle Place, NY | Installing the OpPro on an acoustic only model Ovation would require routing the bridge to accept the 6 element patented pick-up as well as correctly cutting the hole in the body. That's not a DIY project but rather one best left for the experts at the factory. If you want to do a DIY for an acoustic, an under the saddle thin-line PU and an external pre-amp would be a whole lot easier with very little chance of screwing it up. |

Location: Marlton, NJ | I have the preamp, can, jack, pup and saddle. I'm not too concerned about cutting the hole. I'll probably get one of Mitzdawgs bridges off of ebay and just replace the saddle. If worse comes to worse, I know my way around a router.
I'm going to get some modeling clay or something similar so I can make up a template for the can.
Woody - I agree... the placement on the '05 is ideal.
Mitch - I consider pretty much anything a DIY project. |

Location: Upper Left USA | Are you looking at the 1112? I have a full set with an OP 40 and was considering the same.
You'll do well! |

Location: Marlton, NJ | Woody - it is the 1112. It got pretty beat up in shipping - a few decent sized lacquer cracks and dings - but it sounds great. It's a good candidate for trying things on. If I ever get the urge to refinish an acoustic... this would be it.
I'll let you know how it goes. |

If the guitar is really beat up, you're not risking much. |
