what strings do you guys MAINLY use ?

I just took the original strings off mine ( less then a weeks use ) and re-strung her with Martin Marquis M1100's.

On my electrics I use Ernie Ball Super Slinkys

The sound seems to have changed for the better I believe since I swapped'm out at least to me so I was just curious what you guys find the best on your guitars?

I use D'Addario EJ15's. Extra Lights. I may change back to EJ16's, Light, now that my callouses are cool.
Alot of people here like EXP's. I haven't used 'em.

Martin has a good ad department. To me, they are good strings, not great.

That's my opinion, but Opinions are like... You Know.

I only use D'addarios, most of the time mediums, but sometimes lights, just to validate my need for the heavier string (tone quality, volume, etc).

I use webstrings (www.webstrings.com). I switched from Elixirs and D'addarios to these. High quality, low price. Hard to beat 'em, in my humble, but accurate, opinion.

I use D'Addario EJ16s and EXP16s on my Ovations. Depends on how rich I feel when I'm buying strings. The EXPs do last a couple of months longer for me.

I use Adamas 1818s. I got 10 sets for about $10 in a Musician's Friend clearance awhile ago. I'm about to run out.

john pearse bronze silks on the 6's, 80/20 bronze on the 12's.

after repeated inquiries, the rep at john pearse swears there will be a bronze silk 12 string set available in 2007.

d'addario pro arte's on the classics.

I've tried alot of different kinds, my favorites are...

Dean Markley Alchemy GoldPhos LT or CL (for a coated string)
D'addario EJ16
Martin SP Light (using these currently)

My least favorite...

DR Phosphor Bronze Rare

Let me add I'm not a fan of coated strings, though they do last a long time.

...no coated strings here!

...I use two different brands, depending upon what I'm playing, lead or rhythm:

LEAD = LAY's (S.I.T.) 80/20 golden bronze "Silencers" (010/046)..."rolled" wound.

RHYTHM = D'ADDARIO's phosphor bronze "Flat-top" EFT15's (010/046)..."ground" wound.

I like D'addario EXP lights. A while back, I made a mistake purchasing a set phosphor bronze strings. While they sound great with my non-Os, they sound very dull with my one and only Ovation. Once I ran out of strings, I'm going back to the 80/20 sets.

For the past 7 years I have used nothing but Adamas 1717 or 1818. Get 'em fast and cheap at www.stringitup.com.

If you decide to go with the Markley Alchemy's be careful of the size. They do things weird at DM.

The lightest Alchemy's are called LT's which are 11-52 which puts them right in line with other manufacturers "custom lights"

Next size up are the CL's which are 12-54 which are like others "lights" such as Martin's 12-54 lights.

Now, any logical person would assume the CL was for "custom light" and the industry standard for "custom light" is 11's. But the Markleys are somewhat backward.

Then in the non coated strings the closest thing to the industry standard "custom light" is called a TLT. Then the LT becomes an 11-46

Its just all around a stupid system they have.
