| Hi,
I noticed on my 2007 BCS with VIP preamp that if I brush my hands across the 1/4" or XLR jack (when picking up guitar or putting the strap on the preamp power light flashes. It does not stay on if I keep my hand there but it blinks at me when I do this.
Have any of you other VIP preamp owners seen this?
The preamp sounds fine plugged in and all but I worry about this blinking if it is staic electicity doing it and what might this on and off do to the preamp.
Thanks in advance.

Location: NW NJ | Yeah - my 2080 VIP does that too, but only with the XLR socket. I think we're shorting one of the pins to ground just like the special cable XLR does and turning the preamp on. Well, I know we're making the short and turning the preamp on - someone more electrically astute than me will tell us if it is pin one to ground. Don't think it is anything to be concerned about, unless you're getting the same thing from the 1/4" plug hole too - those contacts to turn on the preamp are (or should be) way down inside. :D |

| Robbie,
Thanks for the reply, unfortuately I get it from the 1/4" jack as well.
I have my guitar in touch with Ovation to see if this is normal.
