Excerpt from the OP-Pro-Studio owners manual ...

"Turing this [drive] control clockwise increases the harmonic content in the range of open string fundamental frequencies as well as the guitar top frequencies. This provides a richness to chording and a woody timbre to upper register solo performance."

By the way, I didn't mis-spell "Turning". That's actually what the owners manual says - "Turing".

Hmm. I much rather my duets be woody.

But that could just be me.

A little Thing I wrote for Knan, explaining the controls of the OP-Pro-Sttudio.....

The new Op Pro Studio Preamp from Ovation is a substantial leap forward in technology.
This exciting new preamp offers exciting new features not found in any other acoustic guitar electronics!

Based on the Op Pro preamp, the Op Pro studio offers increased gain, three band active eq, a built in compressor, a low frequency exciter and a built in chromatic tuner!

(supposed to be a pic here... oh well)

The large button on the left releases the preamp from its housing, allowing quick battery changes.

The tune button engages the chromatic tuner and bypasses the output, allowing the user to tune silently and facilitating open tunings.

The battery low light will flash briefly when a plug is inserted to show power u, the flash when it’s time to change.

The gain controls the overall output volume of the guitar.

The EQ section is active, center detented and can boost or cut the selected frequency.
The low controls the bass. mid controls the midrange and high controls the treble.

The Expressor slider controls a fast attack compressor which works in conjunction with the Drive control which activates a low end (400hz) exciter.

The advantage of these controls to the user:

The expressor is a fast attack, transparent compressor that gives single note soloing more punch and clarity, as well all taming the harsh transients exhibited when strumming hard.
The Drive knob controls a low end exciter that is only engaged when the Expressor is engaged. When soloing, especially on high notes, the drive control give both punch and warmth to the sound,, making the notes seem to explode off the fretboard. The difference with the drive knob engaged is striking! It is recommended to start with the drive knob at twelve o’clock and the expressor slider three quarters of the way up to hear this effect. Adjust to taste.
