Location: Hong Kong | I finally couldn't resist the "temptation" & bought a 2079 last weekend. Yes, 2079 is really nice, especially acoustically.
Anyway, I have been playing with my "new toy" in the last few days & I plug it onto my AG Stomp last night using a XLR-to-1/4 cable with the phantom power function OFF. I'm not sure if the XLR cable is Lo-Z or not but it worked right away. I then took out my Adamas W597 which comes with the OP-50 using the same cable - no sound. Switched to a 1/4-to-1/4 connection & it worked fine. Didn't think about that workaround using the dummy 1/4 plug since the XLR connection was working with the 2079.
Any one has any idea if the XLR connection of the Op-Pro Studio works differently vs other Preamp? (Or it was simply the mulfunction of my W597 XLR connection??) I'll do some more testing tonight anyway & will let you guys know the outcome..

Location: Hong Kong | Oops, it happens the cable should be Lo-Z & my 2 custom legends worked fine with the XLR connection. It was the XLR port of my Adamas not functioning... Not sure if the Ovation dealer in Hong Kong can repair it or I should just leave it as is....

Location: Keller, TX | Just make sure your XLR cable has pin 1 grounded to the shell. OR you can plug in a 1/4 inch dummy plug that activates the preamp and play thru the XLR. |
