To my knowledge K-bar was only put on paddle head guitars. I've never seen a slotted headstock ovation with OUT a truss rod. Is this true? and if so, any idea why ?

Yes, there is a real good reason.

I like to play K bar guitars when I play and drink and the same time. My left side naturally starts to droop when I start gettin' likkered up, so between the top-heaviness of the K bar and the effects of the rum, both the headstock and my left hand are pretty much on the floor.

Play da blues, baby, play da blues!!

It's too long for a 12 fret neck. it was designed for a 14 fret neck. The only 12 fretters at the time were the nylons which weren't big numbers and didn't need the extra strength anyway. Since then the folklore and 12 fret 12s have reappeared but there is a better system out now, this double acting rod, much lighter and more responsive. Not as strong as the K-Bar but in all better because of the weight.

Education, History, Physics and entertainment all in one neat package!

When Goober's at 4 O'Clock its closing time!

There's got to be a carbon/Titanium double action truss rod in the near future.
