Location: NYC | Hi everyone. Brand new and first day here. This past Sunday, in separate houses and on separate computers, my friend and I were perusing E-Bay for vintage Balladeers (for me). He already has a pristine '81 which I have become obsessed with which is why I forced him to put in his will, should he go before I do, that I get it! First question: Are the 70's-80's Balladeers better than the new ones? He says "YES." Now, unbeknownst to either of us, while perusing the Ovations,we both came across a UK ll. Neither of us even knew Ovation made electric solids! We were both intrigued and he ended up buying one from a store in PA and he got it today. I say it's gorgeous, the action is like butter. Just wanted to know if anyone owns one or has played one and what your thoughts are. Thanks. Sorry, I know, I talk a lot!

You might want to check out my site dedicated to Solidbody Ovations. It's a work in progress. The UKII was probably the best example of Ovation Solidbody to come out of Ovation since the 80's until the VXT a couple of years ago. As with the Acoustics... VERY underrated guitars. |

Location: Nashville TN. | UKII is the kickinest solid body humbucker style you will ever play.
In terms of Balladeers it depends on your taste.
The electronics on new ones are a lot better.
Unplugged sounds hard to beat a deep no cut.
Different cracing sounds different. |
