I bought one of these fantastic guitar stands about 6 months ago, but it wasn't until yesterday that I saw it from the side. I noticed that the guitar sticks out at quite a crazy angle.

I slid the bottom support right down as far as it will go, but it still sticks out excessively, I think.

Is there a different Hercules stand for solid bodies and acoustics? I'm wondering if I've picked myself up an electric guitar stand by mistake?

I can't picture what you are seeing! I have the hercules, and all the guitars I put on it, be it electric or acoustic fit nicely..The bottom of the guitars rest on the top few inches of the foam tripod legs.

Muzza, is the gooseneck on your stand adjusted high enough?

If you get the "double" Hercules stand, there's a little fold-out rest that allows you to adjust the amount of angle that the guitar sticks out.

If you keep it folded all the way "in", the guitar will hang straight up & down. I do this at venues that're a little cramped. The tripod base of the double stand does have a bit bigger "footprint", tho . . .

GGG, my stand doesn't have the foam on the legs, and my stand's legs aren't in an equilateral tripod configuration like your picture.

Cliff, it sounds like we're talking about the same stand, GS412B. But If I leave my rest 'up' it doesn't lock in place.

I was inspired by GGG's post to have a look at Hercules website. (If you want info about anything, go to the OFC site first!) Here's a picture of my Hercules.

Jeff, I checked and I still had 2 or 3 holes to extend. So I've now got it fully extended and the 'rest' sits right at the bottom of the body. The guitar now sits at a much less alarming angle.

I wondered if they make a different sized fold out rest as I was convinced that my stand was for a solid body. Even their promo photo shows an acoustic box on this stand.

Thanks for your input guys.

The last hercules I ordered from Music123 has a problem with the head release mechanism. It would get stuck half way and not release the guitar. But the one I bought before that is perfect.

Make sure that there's plenty of padding where the neck mounts. I've had some of mine slide down and wind up with dents on the sides of the peghead.

Yak, I had that happen to the neck release on one of mine too. No wait, that was my friends who modified it to keep it from releasing my guitar so I could play.......

Don't you love it when someone who's not familiar with the Hercules tries to pick up your guitar - and can't figure it out?
