Is one bone better than another? |

Go to www.guitarsaddles.com and look around. There are tons of choices: Bone (which in reality means Chinese cow bones), ivory, fossilized walrus ivory, Tusq, etc, etc, etc, etc.
I put an ivory saddle on my Taylor last year. No particular reason...just thought I'd do it. Can't say I can hear any difference. But it does look nice.
Some guys claim they can hear the difference. I have my doubts. If anything, they are probably hearing the difference between a carefully hand fit saddle and one pulled from the parts bin at the factory. But maybe I'm wrong. Who knows.
This is certainly a DIY operation. Nothing too it. The absolute worst thing that could happen to you is that you spoil your new saddle. You aren't going to hurt your guitar. |

Location: ranson,wva | im not sure what the nut and saddle is on my adamas but im positive its not derlin, im thinking bone or graphtec.....the acoustic's ive got ive put bone saddles in them. not to big of a job. i use a drillpress vise to hold the blank for trimming and shaping....jason |

| If signal transfer is the objective, then 'fossilized' might actually be the best natural material. Someone somewhere has probably done acoustic tests for signal transfer. Be interesting to see the results.. |
