i suppose classical music does not fit in with brad's idea for this thread. besides that, when i hear ravel's "bolero", i think of dudley moore. (yeah, right!)

Any rap "song" i've ever heard. Anything past a couple of seconds and i want to smash the radio/stereo/car with the widows rolled down and the driver slumped down in the seat.

Zep's "Thank You" is a good example.
It's not that repeated word thing but unless your mood is chemically altered, it lingers just a tad to long.

As far as "Bolero", ya gotta train youself to think "Bo"... not "Dudley".

There's the trick!

Just like Cheech & Chong movies, some songs are um, situational in as much as you can only appreciate them in certain situations.... and if those situations no longer occur in your life, the song (or Cheech & Chong movie) no longer works for you either.

I'm sure that if you wore your pants around your knees, shoes with loose laces, and a ball cap on backwards that rap songs would sound okay too. I don't feel like running the test 'cause I think I might look tooooo good, one of you try it.

My favorite part of the song.

Written by Dominos drummer, Jim Gordon (before he sadly went over the "deep end", killed his mom & got put away . . . ).

Yea, sad about Jim Gordon. Carl Radle and Duane Allman also met tragic endings. Weird about that group. Great Album though.
Back to the Topic. Any drum solo recorded between 1965 and 1985. In my opinion, that's what ruined it all. When bar bands started that drum solo crap, thay lost the audience. Probably responsible for disco.

Best way I know to get a fresh round of drinks for the band mid-set. As a bonus, it tires the drummer out a bit so he speeds up during songs....less.

In the world of popular and rock music, unfortunately, lengthy music due to repetition of the same word or group of words (or its equivalent) over and over, can get annoying.

In the world of contemporary classical music, however, it is a good thing. I happen to love minimal music with the likes of composers: Steve Reich, Philip Glass, Terry Riley and to some degree, the music of John Adams. If you get into this genre, perhaps, you just might appreciate the same words chanted repetitiously; the same two, three, four notes replayed over and over for extended periods of time; layered on top of each other by the various instruments and voices.
