Location: Campbell River, British Columbia | Well, I've always wanted a 12 string 'O' and a former regular here had one at a decent price. (Far as I know we're all decent sorts here. Rap sheet aside.)
Structurally, this one had seen better days and been repaired and refinished by hobbyists. At 10' it looks fine, but it's survived a lifetime of hurt and still plays and feels fine. The engineering on Ovations has to be about the best in the industry....not that I'd have anything to compare, out here at the edge of the known world and all.
Plugged in, it's wonderfully full. The shallow bowl would not be my first preference, but when you're wading in the leftovers end of the market you take what you find.
I could recommend it. I'd prefer to have something that matched my custom Balladeer more, natural finish, deep bowl, and all, but it's nice to have the 12 string option to fill out my sound now.
The first song this guitar wanted to play with me (yes, they all talk....and no I'm not. I have papers to prove it, do you?) was Norwegian Wood. We haven't written anything together yet. |
