Last summer I was able to weasel all access privledges to a 3 day music festival here in Ohio called Rockin' Resort.
Anyway if you are bored here are some pictures I took of John Kay and the boys. I didn't take any pics backstage, because I didn't want to be like the papparazzi and be a pain in the @zz. It was cool to be on the stage during setup and standing right next to John Kay.
The pictures where taken in the area between front row and the stage. it was just me, my camera and two off duty Cleveland Cops.
They are in slide show format

Enjoy!

I hadn't heard Steppenwolf in years, until I bummed a ride from some friends to the nearest Porsche dealer across the Oregon desert so I could pick up my brand new Boxster. As they backed out of my driveway our friends had the CD player cranked up at the start of Born to Be Wild. Perfect. I borrowed it and played it over and over on the way back in the Boxster.

Steppenwolf....the first rock group I ever saw in concert...January, 1971. I'm sure that John Kay is the only original member left at this point.

I enjoyed the Foghat pics! Don't remember the last time I took a Slow Ride.

Kinda looks like our own alpep playing slide on an SG...

Gotta hand it to Mr.Kay ... still playing the Ric 381. He's got to be Rickenbacker's most loyal endorser ... since it's going on 40 years, maybe the most loyal endorser of any guitar maker.

It was a good weekend, I forgot to mention War was there also. I didn't get many pictures of them. they where having technical difficulties, and it was hot as hell. to hot to stand around waiting.
Foghat was set up to do a meet and greet after their show, but due to the heat, and their determination to put on a high energy show they where exausted when they where done. I can't say I blame them, it was in the mid 90's with high humidity that weekend.
I sat outside at the campsite in front of my industrial size super fan when I wasn't at the shows taking pictures.
I did get a guitar pick from Bryan Thomspon (the guy with the SG)

I am not a big Ric fan, but it did sound good that night.

Very nice pictures. I have taken many concert pictures myself but from the seat that I bought.I used my Nikon and a 80-200mm lens with either ASA 1000 or ASA 400 film.
