I can't figure out why it's not more popular than it seems to be.
... and it's beautiful to look at at.

Location: big island | the reason it is not more popular is because it's about the same size as a tenor ukulele :D |

I think the reason it is not popular is two things:
1) Does it really exist? I have seen exactly TWO of these. It's not the kind of guitar that people will be willing to take a gamble on for so much money without playing it.
2) A guitar of this kind really needs to be 12 fret. That's what makes the FD14 so special. If it was me, I'd custom order this one with 12 frets and cedar top. It would be a cutaway FD14.

Location: Edmond, Oklahoma | It's a better guitar than I deserve, undoubtedly. But as my knowledge and experience increase, so do my expectations--as well as appreciation of quality. (Not to necessarily be confused with cost, but they often go hand-in-hand, eh?). It was a custom order, as I wanted a built-in XLR connector. Then I moved to a church where I use an amp instead of the house P/A, so it was back to the 1/4" output :p
It was my first attempt to get a "perfect guitar" (acoustic). I'm not disappointed (once it was professionally set up--the action was initially too high). It's been my main player for the last 1-1/2 years.
If you were to ask me today what my perfect guitar would be, I'd say one of two things. Either (1) an Adamas with a Contour back (does such a thing exist?) or (2) A 2007-BCS (collector's edition with bearclaw spruce top). I think the 2007-BCS would win out. |
