How do you EQ, esp. for a "jazz" tone?

I've owned a nice 1867 for years - got the OP24 preamp with 3-band EQ. My question: how do you experienced Ovation players like to EQ your guitars?

I play jazz/R&B/blues mostly, and I usually run treble at midpoint or lower - sometimes totally off - it's easy to get too harsh.

Always looking for a mellow, full tone - thanks for any replies.

It's tough to define jazz tone --who's? That said, few jazz guitarists use a signal chain starting with a piezio.

I'd take cwk2's recommendation but raise the base and lower the treble which you can do at the amp as well. When i play jazz tunes i grab my Telecaster, dime the bass, five on mids and three on the treble and roll off the tone until i hit the sweet spot.

What bill Said.

Sounds best through a single-ended (class A) tube amp driven just enough to get some "shimmery tones" and harmonics goin.

...I play jazz on my EA68 Viper with piezo pickup and typically adjust tone to B=10, M=5, T=1, depending upon song.
