I was out of town part of this week without a guitar. I ended up getting to play a couple of nites and a friend loaned me his Bourgeois D150. He mostly plays bluegrass so it was setup a little heavy for me but man this was a killer guitar. Anybody played one?

I just had to do a quick search... There really is a guitar called Booze-shwah? Just for the Booze-shwah-Z?

Just tapped the ol' SDS, Weather Underground, Long-Haired-Hippie Yippie-Draft-Dodgin'-McGovern-supporting part of my brain! Sorry...

I owned a few Bourgeois guitars. J-OM, Country Boy and Country Boy Deluxe. Wonderful guitars. Excellent for Bluegrass.

A bit clinical for me. Similar to Collings in that type of tone. However, these are absolutely wonderful pieces and you should try to play one if you can.

Regards,
Mark

I've played a few, and liked them for the most part. Not as bright sounding as the Collings guitars that I've experienced. Build quality is outstanding.

Wow - some of these are stunning. Not inexpensive but if they sound anything like they look, I'd be impressed too. And, c'mon, who wouldn't appreciate the (Tim, you may want to look away here) killer ?

They are pretty nice. Made in Maine I think. If I also remember correctly Dana Bor-gwois (french you know) started with PRS. Brian Sutton played one for a while. Good guitars but there are better, but we ARE splitting ice cream hairs on this one.

Actually, Dana paired with David Schoenberg to build the Schoenberg guitars that were assembled by C.F. Martin. He later worked for PRS, and Gibson for a while. He established the Dana Bourgeois guitar company, and later joined the Pantheon guitar company that makes the Bourgeois guitars currently. These guitars are as good as they get, but definitely not cheap.

Pretty good pedigree I'd say.

I was playing side by side with a HD28 and while i'm a long time Martin fan, for Bluegrass the Bourgeois really packs a punch. I would like to try a OM or OOO, I'm not much of a Bluegrass player but i do enjoy the sound of a good DRED.
